Unhappy with Whirlpool!

I tried to call service to get the cooktop repaired, because it never worked right since end of November 2024 For 3 months a brand new appliance hasn't worked correctly. They told me it wasn't registered( which I knew was registered). They wanted me to go thru the registration process again. Which I waited on the phone for an hour and a half to do last time. Now I get an email saying it was registered as I knew. So the service department has problems. I need to have my cooktop fixed now!

I had no issues with customer service, the product or product performance. What I had issues was delivery and utter lack of communication. 4 times to get it delivered; not once did I get notified by the delivery company about driver issues etc. When I finally got the appliance, they just showed up again with no phone call and just said where do you want it? We asked what about install, oh someone else will call you. Lucky someone just happened to be home. Could no longer wait on Whirlpool or their partner and had to have my plumber install it. Customer service kept apologizing; but they said their hands were tied.

Love my gas cooktop but only gave 4 stars because I think a great improvement would be to give it a matte finish under grill top instead of slick shiney finish which shows every fingerprint and spot - am spending too much time keeping this top clean so it always looks nice!

Cooktop ultimately does its job, but wish I had looked a little closer. The design of the grates requires precise placement of items, or they will hang over the edge of a slat and can become unstable. Back burners could be positioned better--perhaps an inch further back and closer together. As designed, it is difficult to put pots/pans on both front and back burners without touching/crowding. This is partly due to burner position relative to the contour of the top and partly due to the grate design mentioned earlier.

My initial purchase was dictated by the existing granite opening, and was very happy to have this cooktop despite the countertop limitations. The fold up grates are very good for cleaning. No heavy lifting and no looking for a place to put them.

Moved into our new home about a month ago/ love how it looks, does have some paint cracking off the grates but they lift up making it easy to clean. I do like the tiny front left burnet for keeping this warm

This cooktop is very easy to clean. It wipes up nicely. I didn't think I would like the "hinged" feature, but it is actually very nice not to have to remove the grates.

This model (WCG55US0HB) not as good as a similar model from 2009 with control knobs on the right side. Knobs on the front can get drippings from cooking and large pans cannot fit on front burners as the heat from them melts the outer knobs. The grates are much higher off the flame than the model from 2009, which means more gas is being used to heat pans. Would have gone with a different brand, but did not want to have to cut out granite top for a different brand as this cooktop is same size as 30" from 2009. Also, the pot metal covers under the black flame retarders (or whatever they are called) discolor easily with the heat and must be cleaned with barkeepers friend and a white brillo pad after every other use. Plus, I emailed via Whirlpool website a request to purchase replacement knobs for a couple that were melted and hoped that Whirlpool would send or I could purchase stainless steel knobs in place of the cheap plastic. Have not heard a response.

I love how ™smooth™ and easy this cooktop runs. Every time I turn it on, I feel like it™™s so sophisticated because of the quiet and clean feel of it. It™™s very easy to keep clean and I love the full grate. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the knobs look a bit ™clunky™ to me! I would have liked them to maybe be a smaller, more sleek looking.

I can't speak to the product because I haven't received it yet. The shipping company came 30 minutes earlier than the agreed window. They tried to reach me by phone while I was driving and couldn't answer. They can only deliver in my area on Thursday. Due to my own conflicts we have it scheduled for 5/18/23.

Function is ok, although burners are TOO close together. Cleaning cooktop is too cumbersome, too much effort each time I use it and I am a neat cook. Black (cast iron) grates are showing signs of wear, ie metal shining through after less than two months. Very unhappy with the product!

This stove came with our new house and looked nice at closing. Went to use it and you cannot use more than 2 pots at a time because it is so small. Only a 1-year warrantee and the metal grate broke off exactly where the other reviews show. CHEAP!

This was a replacement for an older black glass topped cooktop that, unfortunately, I was unable to get replacement parts. I chose this cooktop for the spacing of the burners, the high sear burner and the low heat burner, the black finish as there is no stainless in my kitchen. There are very few black cooktops available. I thought that the other two burners would have been similar to my previous cooktop. I was in error. The other burners pale in comparison in btu output. I guess I will just have to get used to it. I am the better than average home cook, and my cooking methods demand efficient appliances. I would have loved to go higher end, but my space and budget are both limited. Spending nearly $4,000.00 to get a high end replacement was just not feasible. While the cooktop is good for average cooks, and I would recommend this as it will probably last and serve most homeowners needs. It just needs to have the two right side burners revamped to provide a higher btu output.

It took Best Buy several months to deliver and install this cooktop. Probably not a Whirlpool issue, but the bad taste remains. The grates have wider spaces between them than expected, and one of our small sauce pans has a tendency to tip over if not carefully monitored. Al in all, not as good as out previous (but obsolete) GE profile unit.

We love our new stovetop and especially the easy and strong flames on the large burners. It is a great design with one exception. They didn't design all 4 burners to be on at the same time with large pans. If you cook on all the burners at once the pans are a bit awkward heating just half of the pots or pans. I purchased this from Menards and it took 8 weeks to get...i had it installed and used it once. i had to go out of state and while I was gone my husband called and said that it was leaking gas. He got installers to come and check it out and it is leaking internally. Called Whirlpool and took two weeks to get someone here. He came and there are three valves leaking and the ignitor will not stop running so he has to order parts to fix. So here I sit months later with no working stove and dont know when it will be fixed

Buyer Beware!!! Cooktop is too small. If you are cooking for a large family you will not be able to use all four burners at the same time. You want be able to get three or four large pots on the stove. Also, the heat output is too high. You will not be able to simmer anything:(

I want to upgrade all my appliances--all of them--which requires installation specs yet there is nothing on here that I can use for opening reqirements, so I'll be buying from Someone else, like Frigidaire (Norway?), GE (China), or even LQ from South Korea. This company peddles junk.

My cooktop is 2 years old. Used less than average. Bar in the grating snapped off. I purchased an extended warranty and was told it is not covered. The price to replace is half the cost of the appliance. Not worth it. I will replace it instead.

So far seems to be functioning properly but there are some negatives to it. These are the negatives.... Sits very high on the counter the pot s are higher than a surface mountain one, the great should come with a broad of some sort to hold it up for cleaning so both hands are free to clean, the dials rotate in opposite direction then what is normally seen, some of the burner flames are not exactly equal flame light all the way around, and as the installer the under counter mounting brackets were useless and I had to fabricate my own under the counter mounting brackets
Now for the positive....
Nice heavy duty brakes, the sunken area underneath the burners makes cleaning easy the flame intensity it just well, it was well packaged and came with all the necessary adjustment store directly to my 3/4 inch flexible gas line. I did buy the extended warranty from a separate vendor as these things tend to fail within the first couple years or last for 50 years. My wife is very happy to have a gas range finally and this seems to be cooking.

i bought this and the range did not produce good heat for stir frying. i went through 2 service calls to establish that the gas is properly adjusted and still no better. After comparison to other gas ranges and cooktops it is clear that the grates are set at 1.75" to 1.875' rather than the 1.25" in height on good ranges. you wait forever for the pot to boil and you will never stir fry in a wok.

Who puts the tiny burners in the front of the stove must just make a can of soup every day!
If you need a pot of boiling water, use a fry pan, etc. you have to reach over whatever you may have simmering on the front burner and wear long pot holders to heft it over and not burn your arms. Better be strong. We are replacing it since it came with the house.

I have this builder installed cooktop and the grate broke while wiping it. Probably used the cook top for total of a month. It broke exactly in the same location as others stated. On top of that, I cannot get get the serial number to ask for warranty because apparently it is on the bottom which is inaccessible due to a oven installed. Warranty wants that even though I went through the trouble register all the appliances. Appallingly poor service all around.
I had whirlpool appliances before and loved them.

We replaced a GE cooktop that we had for 20 yrs. because of the design of your product. The hinged cast-iron grates and the upfront controls and we have not been disappointed. This cooktop lights easier and heats faster. With the hinged grates cleanup is much faster.

This was installed by the builder and we have used it 3 months. Went to lift the grate up to clean underneath and the left side grate busted off near the front burner towards the middle. I was reading another review and their grate broke off in the same place as ours. I also have a friend who purchased from the same builder - same cooktop - and was broken before they took ownership - it was found in the inspection. Her's broke in the exact same place as mine! Whirlpool needs to take another look at the structure of their grates if we are all breaking in the same place.....

This unit came with the home we purchased from Lennar Home (formally Cal-Atlantic). As the review title indicates, the design is flawed as you can only use two burners at a time as the controls in front take up the space needed to use the other burners. The other basis for the low review is that grate broke within the first of use. Whirlpool did agree to send us a new grate however. Not recommended.

only one burner (the smallest) will simmer; the other three burners boil everything; nothing will simmer on the other three burners. Whirlpool repair said this model can NOT be adjusted; there is no screw under the caps for adjustment. I definitely would NOT recommend this model.

Just finished installing this cooktop and I am not impressed. Cheap construction, I have no idea what makes this thing worth $599. Installation was a challenge to say the least. The instructions were horrible. For the gas line none of the ports were called out in standard terms. The inlet to the cooktop is 3/8 male NPT (nominal OD of .675") but is described as 3/4" (9.5cm). The pressure regulator on one diagram is described as an "adapter" with "1/2" (1.3cm) male pipe thread" which makes no sense at all and to make things worse the part actually has a 1/2 NPT inlet and 3/8 NPT outlet. Nowhere does it state what size flexible line to use but the 3/8 ports infer a 3/8 gas line but when you go to buy that part it is recommended for space heaters, 1/2 line is recommended for ranges. This question could have been answered if there was a BTU/hr rating for the cooktop but I could not find that anywhere. None of the model numbers in the User Instructions matched my cooktop. I could go on but I think you get the picture, there is no excuse for documentation this poor. And the icing on the cake - the shiny, silver knobs are chrome plated plastic, I would think that for $599 at least we could get chrome plated pot metal. I read in someone else's review that they melted when a pan was situated too close, so I guess we will have to watch out for that. I can only hope that the functionality on this appliance is *much* better than the installation I guess time will tell.
