Poor Engineering / Design / Features !!

Not happy with gas dryer purchase. Could it have KILLED Maytag to have installed a LIGHT inside the dryer drum?? Too dark inside !! Also - black plastic door prevents seeing clothes inside when door is closed !!. Door pull is on top of door causing plastic dryer door to bend when pulling open - will eventually probably snap door pin located mid door position ! Lint accumulates around gasket of door - have to constantly clean. Owners manual is USELESS (covers a broad range of models with no specifics for purchased machine !!) Way too many dryer cycles that supposedly sense moisture in fabrics - does not perform well (better off choosing "timed dry" and selecting temperature and time yourself). Would have returned product if it wasn't such a pain !!

When is "Dry" Not Dry? And, Can You Hear Me Now?

I've been using my new dryer for a couple of weeks now. It runs quietly and appears well built. It was a replacement for my 25+ year old electric Maytag Dryer I have a dryer in my 2nd home that has the same type of programming, ie. Dryness Level and Type of Load, I just don't understand the need. I am unsure why I would ever want my clothes "Less Dry", is drying them not the purpose of the machine? With my most current load of towels, I selected Towels, and More Dry; after the cycle the two heaviest towels were still damp. Had I not been here to remove them, they would have sat damp in the dryer. Again, I have the same issue with my other dryer, so perhaps it's just an "upgrade" in dryer technology? Why doesn't dry, or in my case more dry, mean completely dry? The only other thing I feel the need to comment about is the sounds the panel makes, they are VERY quiet. I have the volume all the way up and when I turn the dryer on, before it's running, the sounds are barely audible, same with the chime that sounds to alert me the load is finished.

It leaks when you use wrinkle remover. You can not hear the chime when the load is finished. The company you used for repairs was terrible. they fixed nothing and told us "that's how the machine is suppose to work. We will never buy another Maytag product.

After waiting 3 weeks for the dryer delivery. The dryer never got hot. Ran through all the trouble shooting suggestions but no luck. Waited another 2 weeks for the replacement dryer for it to turn up with a big dent in the front of the dryer. Now waiting for Maytag to make it right and provide me with another dryer that actually works. So much for my decision to buy products assembled int he USA.

This review is not about how the machine operates but the lack of support from Maytag to answer questions about how the machine operates. Accessing the manual was painful, the Maytagwebsite is slow and very difficult to navigate. My questions were simple: walk me through the various cycles and how they operate. Secondly, for Timed Dry, why won't the machine allow me to increase the temperature? Only Airflow can be selected. I called the support number but gave up after holding for more than 30 minutes.

Incompetent company!!! I ordered a Maytag dryer and waited for weeks to have it delivered only to find out they delivered the wrong dryer to my house. After several calls to customer service and different people they could not correct the error. On the last call I spent two hours on the phone and the person told me that everything was corrected and that I will be getting my dryer on the 9/23/2025. They did not send the dryer and came only to pick up the wrong dryer. Again, I called today (9/24/2024) and was told that my replacement order was never entered by the previous customer service person. I was asked again if I needed a replacement and due to the bad experience and incompetence of Maytag I just decided not to buy the item again and just get a refund and I will looking for a different brand.

No drum light

There is no drum light or plate to remove to access a light inside the drum, as shown in the instructions. Very disappointed and in the dark! Not great for senior citizens or anyone. I have to use a flashlight to see if pieces of clothing are left in drum.

Dryer has been perfect. Washer went haywire at one year and needed a new board which was covered by Best Buy. Washer works great 99% but occasionally some cycle will misbehave. The one and only thing better about the LG is pump strainer access which is an awful design on Maytag.

Terrible product and company to deal with!!!

This is the worst experience I have ever had. I bought my washer and dryer after having an old GE washer dryer that was starting to go. I was so excited to splurge for an upgrade with a known American company. The place I bought from repoed Maytag and said it was solid product made in America so if parts are ever needed or service it is quick turn around. My machines arrived May 23. By June 10, about 2 weeks after, the dryer stopped drying. It did not heat. I called Olums where I bought from they deferred me to Maytag. I had to wait 10 days for a rep to arrive because there is no service person in my area even though I was told there was when I bought it. The tech arrived after waiting ten days from the appointment and was here five minutes to diagnose the fuse went bad and needed a new one. It™€™s been three weeks waiting for a part and then I still need a tech. Everything I was sold when I bought totally backfired. I™€™ve never had a brand new appliance not work barely two weeks on site. I replaced all the duct thinking that was it from what the techs on the phone told me. Then to not have people and parts readily available, what is going on? Maytag has been in business a very long time and I was eager to finally splurge to buy their product and it is a totally flop. A lemon. Terrible customer service. Too long to get parts and reps. Here I am more than a month when it was delivered and still no working dryer!! I have a baby and toddler constantly doing laundry. This was supposed to make my life easier not more difficult and Maytag is no where to be found to expedite this. It would have been easier and better experience to instantly take it back, give me a new dryer, and Maytag or Olums figure out why it does not heat. Do not buy!! Go with cheaper knobs and buttons versions of GE or the Korean brands. Never again!

Bad Control Panel

Bought this model and matching washer 7 days ago. Dryer seemed to work fine, except it had an odd rattle. It's brand new, so called for repair 2nd day after delivery. While waiting on the repair person, it was also noted the time did not count/go down when using automatic cycles. Timed cycles seemed to work OK. Automatic cycles would show 'sensing' when started. It would then advance 'wet' and then 'damp'. When 'Damp' went away, the dryer continued to run for 'minutes' after. Upon start of regular auto cycle, the display would show 'sensing' and 52 minutes for the cycle. Checked it after it was running for 45 minutes. Display still showed 52 minutes remaining. No 'sensing', 'wet' or 'damp' indicator was lit. Checked clothes and they were dry. Repair person arrived and found the unusual rattle was due to a some play between the gas valve and the burner housing (gas dryer). Repair person indicated the sensor was working properly and that he would order a new control panel for the issue of the dryer not shutting off. Our old Maytag pair was 15 years old and never had a single problem. Dryer has also started to do what the new 7 day old washer is doing. When off, the control panel is dimly lit. Before, when the dryer was off, the control panel was not lit. Now when it is off, the control panel is dimly lit. Unplugged it and left it set for a few minutes. Plugged it back in and the control panel is still dimly lit. May add a follow-up after new control panel is installed.

Dryer Won't Dry. 2 Towels = 2 Hours at Max Heat

For 2 bath towels you should expect to run the dryer on timed dry, max heat, for 2 hours. Must run it at extremes in temp and time. No other setting helps. Service techs -- two of them -- claimed the dryer works as designed and all is well with vent. Max temp 140 degrees then quickly decrements. This is my second review as the first wasn't published. How many 1 Star reviews do not get published? Hmmm. Maytag disappoints!

The dryer works great, drying very efficiently, but I wish that the set cycles had more flexibility. Letting you choose less time. However, there is no light inside!! I've had a Whirlpool for the past 16 years and it has a light. Also, the chime is too low, I barely hear the end of cycle chime.

I have the end signal button turned up to 3 and I have never heard the signal. Just an average product, I wish we would have spent the money to repair our 11 year old Maytag dryer.

Repair needed after 1 year

Disappointed that the heating element stopped working, a $300+ repair within the first 1 1/2 yrs of ownership. And now the washer is having issues as water will not run into the fabric softener dispenser. So disappointed! They do not get overuse™€¦ only 2-4 loads per weeks. My previous Maytag front loads lasted 15 yrs and never needed a repair. Don™€™t believe I will buy Maytag again. So sad!

Early Bearing Failure

After two years (almost to the day) one of the drum support bearings had a total failure. The dryer started make a constant and loud squealing noise. I disassembled the unit to find the left rear drum support bearings AND bearing journal heavily damaged. My previous dryer (not a Maytag) ran for over 20 years without wearing out one of these bearings while doing laundry for a family of 6+. This Maytag unit didn™€™t make two years without wearing that many people™€™s laundry.

Maytag Dryer

This is my second Maytag Dryer. Very happy with the first one, not so happy with this one. The sensing on it does not work well at all. Many times clothes are still damp when the dryer stops. Runs longer than the last one too. Next dryer will be a different manufacturer!

No way to clean out the filter

We had to replace our Maytag commercial washer after only having it for four years. The repair cost to clean out the filter was almost as much as a new washer, due to the time it would take to access the filter. Yes, we regularly did a washing machine clean cycle. No, we never put overly dirty or sandy clothing in the washer. Yes, we regularly cleaned the rim of the washing machine door.

Useless end of cycle signal

Purchased this dryer as a replacement for a 25 year old Whirlpool that failed. Dryer operation function is satisfactory, however, the end of cycle signal is so faint it can only be heard when standing immediately next to the dryer. Even at the ™€œloudest™€ setting.

Unfortunately the units aren™€™t built as good as before. The electronics seem to always have issues and the machine requires being unplugged to reset itself. The machines from 1980™€™s truly lasted and only failed because the belt finally broke or the motor exceeded its lifespan. Machines don™€™t need automation just leave well enough alone

The dryer is not peak performance, the towels feel damp and tops of my slacks are very damp, when the dryer is finished. The end of cycle signal on 3 is the same "peep" as on 1. I must go up and down the steps to check when finished. I'm alone and 86, its hard to also spend this time. My Magtag Dryer lasted 17 years and never a service call. I have called your help line, they are kind people but have not helped.
